About Somasphere
The four-piece instrumental electronica group known as Somasphere is on the brink of taking the nation by storm. Formed in late 2006, the band quickly became known in Lincoln, Omaha, and surrounding areas for energetic live shows that combine the dance floor sensibilities of DJ culture with the performance capabilities of rock music.
Their unique approach centers on solid danceable rhythms created by the use of both traditional and electronic drum kits. The flow of these distinct, yet equally energetic sources, allows the band to traverse the spectrum of grooves and tempos ranging from steady house, hard-hitting breaks and intense jungle, to mid-tempo and hip hop. In any of these styles, Somasphere always brings the low-end deep and dirty using both bass guitar and synth.
While the rhythm section is powerful, many of the sonic textures that have come to define the band’s sound center on melodies created by both guitar and laptop based sample manipulation. These disparate elements combine to create a sound that is equally at home in the headphones or on a packed dance floor.
Somasphere has performed alongside some of the most innovative electronic acts in the country, including Bassnectar, Lotus, Pnuma Trio, EOTO, Big Gigantic, Vibesquad and Pretty Lights. Watch for upcoming tour dates and events at venues across the country and a new full length album slated for release in 2010!

About Mitch Gettman
Much of the initial focus on Mitch Gettman has been that he is still in high-school and putting out material and doing performances on the level of many established and veteran musicians. More and more Gettman is being seen beyond his age/talent ratio and is being recognized as an up and coming musician in Omaha, Nebraska. Mitch is finding himself being asked to open for national acts coming to town and finding buzz worthy praise for his performances and songwriting. Gettman finished off 2009 with a nomination for Best New Artist at The Omaha Arts & Entertainment Awards. This nomination came in the form of votes from the Omaha music press, radio DJ’s, local music industry professionals, and promoters.
Musically the comparisons to Jeff Buckley and Radiohead are obvious choices. A fan himself of those musicians and their knack for well crafted songs, Mitch has even embraced those influences by putting up You Tube videos of him performing tracks by those artists. In 2009 Gettman enlisted two established and respected Omaha musicians, Adam Gerber on Drums and Andrew Malashock on bass, and the trio has been writing and recording songs for Gettman’s upcoming debut EP (due out in April '10). Some of these songs have started leaking out and show that Gettman is more than just a stunning vocalist, but also a proficient guitar player, songwriter, and arranger. Mitch also has more than one trick up his sleeve. Taking up residence on his set list are soaring epic ballads, catchy Smith’s era mope pop, and grunge influenced rock. His original songs show that Gettman is one of the most promising and impassioned musicians to come onto the crowded Omaha music scene in many years.
The future is now for Gettman as he gets ready to showcase his full range of talent. One can’t help but wonder where this “beyond his years” musician is going to go and how far he will grow. Fans will find no reason to rush him though, as the present output and performances to date have been very satisfying to say the least. Watching this emerging talent will be one of the best stories to see unfold both here in Omaha and well beyond as the word spreads. Music fans will be doing themselves a favor checking out Mitch Gettman live and snatching up the songs as they are released. He is sure to be an “I saw him when” artist.
